H&R Maybe??

Car  Clio 197 R27 Albi
Right decided that a set of coilovers will be my first mod to my clio. The question is which ones. I've done lots of searching, theres many idea's. H&R's seem to be one of the favourites.

What do you recomend? £600 to spend. Looking to order soon so need your advice.

Thanks

h&r are a bit outside your budget mate i think. i would recommend v maxx mate. they are very good value for money and there is a group buy at teh moment. however if your going to track it regulatly then maybe fk's or streach for h&r. hope this helps :)

H&R's are about £1000 brand new mate.

I have a set waiting to be fitted so can't really comment but they look good! :)

If you like your comfort and you wouldn't be on track very often what would the majority reccomend? :)

I've driven AST's, H&R's, will soon have kw v2's. For purely road use, I think H&R are a better bet than AST's. Nothing wrong with AST's quality wise, they just don't suit my driving, preffered H&R's. Going for KW's as I'm after something softer than AST's for road use that I can stiffen up for track days.
If your 182 has cup packs, vmaxx aren't an option.
(I'm in the minority regarding the AST's, most that have used them think they are very good)

So...
H&R are softer than AST then?
KW V2 are softer again and can be hardened?
H&R's are softer than AST's.
KW's are softer than AST's (both on softest setting), I've been told by those that have used them all that KW's on there softest damping setting are similar to a Trophy set-up.

if its cup packed you only have a choice of

H&Rs
ASTs
KW maybe
bilstien again maybe

what do people think of FK Konigsports?

for the money you cant really fault them. if you keep them at a sensible ride height they're fine on the road as well. just make sure you set to the correct height as they seize up very quickly on the threads.

I've had both H&R's and AST's with solid top mounts on my car.

The H&R's are too soft on the front and too stiff on the back in my opinion, mine were set as low as possible aswell, but set up correctly.

The AST's are amazing, nothing short of it. So much adjustability, quality is superb also. The top mounts add to the feel perfectly though, turn in was amaizng.

However, if it is only road use you are going for, and you aren't fussed about going low, get Eibach sportlines, the car will be faste ron rough country roads.
If you just want low for the road may as well settle with FK's, no point spending the extra.

All in my opinion, but as said I've tested most of the stuff available, including FK's on a mates 172 as I fitted them for him.

you say they seize up? if im paying £600 not sure i want something which will seize up and not be adjustable would be no point in having the coilys. Has anyone else had this problem?

All the adjusters seize mate, it's one of the problems that come with coilovers.

I've just spent 2/3 days freeing mine before they are even fitted to the car!

Have a look for my thread "freeing the adjusters" in here.

Thanks Da, thats fine then. Think the Its between FKs or H&R's.
