hacked up radio lead help

Car  clio 172
My 172 came with an aftermarket headunit. After taking it out to have a look around I can see a previous owner has really botched the radio antena lead.

The lead has been bent back on itself and taped, with bare wire fitted directly into the back of the head unit. Obviously thats really caused my a headache when they could have just bought a £10/£15 quid adapter. My question is do I need to get an audio specialist to rewire the antena or does the length of wire from the head unit terminate somewhere behind the the dash so I only need to replace the lead thats been damaged?

You can get just the end, dont get the crimp on ones though, I use the screw on version so as you screw it together it clamps the wire in place, much better

Thanks MT, have you got any pics or links of the ones you mean, I am no audio expert sadly. Is it best to just take the dash off then, remove the damaged length back to the closest termination then use this 'screw on' replacement?

major coincidence, i found this was the reason behind my poor radio reception too,

also interested in a quality connecter to fit to my standard HU aerial in
