I'd have taken it straight back tbh. When ever i take mine in (will be this week) I always tell them to make sure the wheel is straight............ They 'should' lock it down when adjusting tbh. Also i'm sure the settings aint 0, i'm sure they toe in a few degrees iirc?

If the steering wheel doesnt centre after having the tracking done then they havnt done it properly. They need to adjust both sides in/out to get the steering wheel spot on.

just had mine checked at quickfit and it was 0 which it what settings they have on record.. all be it for a 172 up to 2001 so i had it re-done by a local bloke recomended to me at 0 12' toe out and it has transformed my car handles like a dream netrual and powers out of corners with no or very little understeer would deff recomend these settings to any 182 cup owners

  PH2 172
what do you recomend to 172 cup owners same settings or not also how much do kwik fit charge to do tracking

TBH i would get a specialist to do it when i asked kwickfit to set it to 12deg they said they couldnt set it in deg they only used units so i left and got it done elsewhere think they wanted 35 quid got it done for 20

^ what tracking gear do you use? thinking of getting my own but a lot of it seems expensive

oh it's nowt technical, i used to use it on my stockcar, but tried it on my cup. it's just a bar that goes underneath the car with a right angle piece of metal on each end. then one end is put against the alloy and the other end measured. then swapped to other side of wheel. it takes time but it does work. i then use a laser level to project from the front wheel to the rear wheel on each side with a target on it to get the steering straight. i've had it checked by a garage after first attempt and it was spot on 0 degrees with steering straight too.

I need to get mine done..

Last year took it to ETS in Derby, at first they tried to set it as a 1.2/1.4 clio!!
After me telling them 3 times it was a 2L, came up at F4R on their system.

But it still wasnt right, my steering wheel sits just past 11 o'clock when going in a straight line?

  RS RIP
experimented on mine a while back..

Little toe OUT gave me a nervous car on the staights but steered in curves really great, little toe in gives you a more stable straightline ride, you have to pull a little harder to curve in.. Í really like a stable straight-drive so i finally set it on a little toe~in, i did also get some negative camber on the H&R setup which makes the curving better again.

Also when running negative camber it will wear the tyre on the insides :a little toe in also prevents this gradually.

I think a neutral setup is (0 degree) will also be very nice. Next time round i´m going a little less toe~in . Going for just a tad toe~in, almost hitting neutral.

Standard recommended toe on a 172 cup is neutral

sorry to bring this back up but ive just read my paper work and it says the current setting was -6.0 and now its 0. so should i say it needs to be 0 12' Toe out (+-5').

thanks
