halford Denision Free Fitting - iPod Solution

  RenaultSport Clio CUP
Hi All

Just booked clio in for free fitting of Denision iPod lead/cradle fitting.........

It cost £99 and they fit it free...........

It allows iPod to be used with std VDO Renault head unit..........use ipod as contoller and will charge iPod when in cradle (remember to take unit out as its very nickable!)

Thought £100 was fair enough as you can always remove at later date and the bracket they have to order in (2-3 days) will clamp to dashboard and leave no holes.......

Thought i'd share this as it seems a decent solution to using iPod and always continued use of remote stalk and head up display.........

Hope this might be helpful to other thinking of using iPod in the car and wanting to keep std VDO head unit.

Ta

Danny :D

Interested in this,

however i've never really found a decent definitive description of the functionality you retain.

Can you use the steering controls to scroll through artists, albums etc??

About the only real option to ipod the standard stereo so definitly something i'll be considering.

Sterring wheel control, only allows you to skip tracks on a selected play list, and adjust the volume.

You can select play lists using the controls on the headunit itself.

but can it be used in conjunction with the cd changer? sounds like it can only run as a substitute :S

i have to say £99 seems a bit steep for what is essentially a cable. it cost more than my pod! how hard can it be to pull the head unit out and feed it in urself?
