Halo: Campaign Evolved

Any love for this? It probably won't be out until Nov 2026 but I have my fingers crossed for it. It (the original) still remains one of the landmark games for me and I'm a massive Halo fan (as I've no doubt said before).

It will be interesting to se what tweaks are made to make it feel a little more modern, and to maybe introduce the game to others on non-Xbox/PC platforms.

I feel like I'm missing the point here. Hasn't it already been redone once for the MCC?

I'd much rather they made a decent new version from the ground up, rather than one that's limited by the map design / layouts of the original.

They released an anniversary edition, and then the MCC version - but that was an enhanced port rather than a remake. This is more of a major overhaul with gameplay mechanic tweaks, although I understand it is largely faithful to the original. Of course, the visuals and audio will be getting an overhaul (using the ubiquitous Unreal Engine 5).

This doesn't affect the new Halo game that is currently being developed.

I can't really complain. I paid for the Dawn of War Definitive Edition and that was arguably much less of an overhaul.

  A terrible one
I think it’s a sensible/safe decision from halo studios. Get used to the new engine and how to make it feel like a halo game etc and get feedback on it which they can then transfer on to the entirely new game in the background. I like the fact they’ve added new missions which is a nice bonus and having some of infinite’s mechanics in CE will be a nice modern twist. I like CE as I’m old enough to have played when it was new and I’ve a lot of fondness for it. Will defo be buying.

Yeah will definitely give this a go. I still remember quite well running through it split screen with one of my mates at stupid hours. Going to be a major nostalgia hit playing this again. I only went and played a few missions on MCC when it came out.

When this came out originally, I played it through again and again and again. My (ex) wife was seriously ill with various conditions that would never be cured/treatable, and she wasn't in to games at all. However, she loved this game and we played co-op all the way through some 20+ times. I could have probably run the whole game blindfolded!
I did it on original release as a yoof, and then again just recently on MCC with my lad. Properly enjoyed 2 PC co-op missions with him, well, other than the f**king library, obviously.
