Harphamominom's Ph1 Project - sunflower content p12 onwards

Just fitted the Powerflex Dogbone Mount.

Initial impressions are that it feels much tighter top end, but I think it causes a bit of vibration, which I guess will be sorted out when I eventually change the rest of the engine mounts.
Although, it may be because I've just cable-tied my exhaust up, so that I make sure it stays hidden lol.

Hopefully going to sort out spacers soon.

On the list of things to do in 2013 to make this mint:
- Spacers
- Powerflex ARB and wishbone bushes
- Vibra/Ktec engine mounts
- Skoda splitter
- Super mega anal detail

Correct ^ can hardly feel anything in mine now!

I fancy the vibra mounts but i dont know if they will be to harsh vibration wise for day to day use...

  A special one.
Hi, ive just fitted the new style of Powerflex wishbone bushes and the Powerflex ARB bushes.

Also have the Dog bone mount, next is the engine mounts as i had a new set of "standard" mounts but these need changing again :(

What size spacers are you going for?

One Year On...

So, it seems that i've owned the Sunflower for one year today. Best purchase ever!!

When I bought it:

The photos actually make it look a lot less like a shed. It was covered in mould, bird s**t, curbed wheels, belts needed doing, along with the dephaser, gash 100" exhaust and was covered in swirls.

Properly love it!!

I've got a couple of bits to sort on it atm, namely the centre console display (cheers Djw John for the replacement) and the washer pump, but apart from that, it's perfect. Can't wait to start the mega anal detailing this year!!

I remember the day we went to look at it, t'was a right state..... mould, stains, smells, squeaks, rattles.

What a turn around.

Yes Jon. This isn't going anywhere... Infact this is the longest i've owned a car since my very first one LOL.

Update

So, over the cold winter period, i've been gradually building up a little hoard of parts, ready to fit onto the car once the weather picks up.

- Centre console dash display (as mine has stopped working)
- Washer motor (also stopped working)
- Manifold-Cat fitting kit (Booked in for Mick @ Diamond Motors to sort on Tuesday) - Cheers Renault Wolverhampton, wicked service. Even got a few freebies.

I've also just taken delivery of this......

YUS. Going to attempt fitting it tomorrow, if the weather is alright.

Also going to finally clean the car on Sunday, if the weather is still like this. Properly dirty atm.

Finally, i'm just waiting on Dan@M.A.D. to finish manufacturing some 20mm spacers to have off him too (also having some 10mm spacers for the rear off Mick).

Cannae wait for the summer!! Perfection is on it's way... :D

Aaaaand fitted...

Dirty shed is dirty. I haven't driven it yet, but i'm going out soon, so look forwards to seeing what the difference is. Obviously set it to the hard setting, because race car.

Ill see how it drives later on. Worse case scenario, I just knock it onto the other notch. It's not like it's a time consuming job, so I can mess around with it over the weekend if needed.

It'll be getting its first clean of the year on Sunday. I don't clean my cars over winter tbh. Too cold and too much grit/salt on the roads. But yeah, it's never been this dirty.
I'll update with clean photos ;).

Now I'm not saying this is right or wrong but personally I wind the bushes and locking nuts down as low as they go, I believe that's how it should be rather than how you have it Paul. Happy to be corrected though!

It has 2 settings.

And cheers John. Ill give that a shot, although I'm sure the instruction photos are the same as mine? I may be wrong. It's going in to Diamon Motors on Tuesday to replace the manifold-cat joint anyway, so I'll ask Mick to check it over to see if its right.

Ive been out driving in it. Even at the low speeds I've been driving at (due to the exhaust), I can feel that the rear is tighter. Not as much sway in corners and feels like its steering through the front more (if that makes sense?!). I look forwards to trying it properly once the exhaust has been sorted by Mick.

Yeah that makes, stiffer at the back equals sharper turn in. If its too stiff in the wet it can become a bit tricky at the limit!

Let us know what Mick says, I fitted it by doing what seemed right rather than looking at instructions cos I got it second hand!

First clean of the year...

Just finished giving the sunflower it's first clean of the year. Was only a relatively quick one, as I have some work to do. So much of it's shine has gone :( and it's properly covered in tar. If I had more time, I would have detarred it all.
Also hoovered out the interior, as that was a massive mess and put my flowers back onto the rear view mirror, so it is now in "Summer Mode"

(Had to use the iPhone for photos, as I haven't set up Lightroom/Photoshop on the iMac yet, so wouldn't be able to edit my photos anyway)

So, I have a lot of work to do before summer really kicks in, but at least I now know where the finish is at. I've missed having a clean car.

:D

EDIT: Btw John, I looked at the fitting instructions for the ARB. It shows it to be fitted as I have, with the head of the bolt at the top of the thread.
Here's a photo off a website to show:
