Harphamominom's Ph1 Project - sunflower content p12 onwards

Cheers matey.

Just got back from Mick @ Diamond Motors. Epic service as always. Is always good to have a good natter with Mick too. Always complements on how good the car looks and how far it's come since he first saw it this time last year. ;)
Turns out the heat shield is just rattling against the exhaust, rather than anything blowing etc, which is all good, so I now have a genuine Renault manifold-cat fitting kit, if anybody needs one.
I also bought some 10mm spacers off him. Just need to sort out some 20mm spacers and some extended bolts for the rear and I'm all set.

Little update:

The Sunflower currently stands like this..

This morning, I took the dash off (because race car), to finally sort out a problem that i've had since December.

My dash display works again... HOORAY!!

Cheers Djw John for the spare display back in January lol, only took me 3 months to find the time to fit it.

I have a Skoda splitter on order. Still waiting to source some 20mm spacers though :(. I want to get it spaced out asap.
I plan to do quite a few bits to it over the coming months, so things are about to get a tad more interesting.

Clean & Spaced

Little update.

Got hold of 4 more of these badboys... Have 6 spares now!! :D Cheers Kieran.

Also took delivery of these...

So, on Sunday, I gave the car a mini-detail to kick start the year of a super clean Sunflower. Was really basic, i.e. decontamination and sealing up, ready for a proper detail coming at the end of the month/in May.

Then, I dropped on the front spacers (Dan@M.A.D. 25mm spacers):

I've already had a slight problem with them. Yesterday, I was getting a really bad knocking sound from my front drivers side wheel. Turns out they'd come loose already :S . We definitely tightened them up tight enough. I checked over the other side which I tightened up about 1/8th turn. If they happen again, they'll be coming off, as safety > looks.

Yesterday, I also took delivery of these:

Some extended Polarised bolts for the rear.

Today, I got on the task of fitting my rear spacers. Before:

So the car is now running 25mm on the front and 10mm on the rear.

I love the look of the spacers. Think it's exaggerated the fact that my car isn't low enough though...

In the next month or so, I plan to refresh some of the steering/suspension components to tighten everything up.

Yes.

The spacers really set the car off, it will look perfect once sitting on coilovers.

What did you torque the wheels up to? I am suprised they came loose so quickly.

Yeah, i'm surprised too. Just as tight as we could get them. I tightened them up, then my dad (because i'm a little 3stone noodle) went over them to get them as tight as he could. Worrying really. Tightened all of them up again, but was a lot more wary of the potential issue, so was extra cautious about making them as tight as possible.
Coilovers may definitely be needed now. The spacers just exaggerate that i'm not quite low enough to pull off the 25mm look LOL.

(I may be talking out of my backside here, but I don't think that my dad has the right connector/adapter/whatever on his torque wrench to connect to these types of bolts)

I could do with some rear spacers, do you have a shot of how the rear wheel looks in the arch?
What sort of angle do you want to see and I can get a shot of it next time i'm outside.

Wow thats a nice improvement with those spacers mate. 6 bloody spare centre caps though? Greedy fecker lol.

Car looks lovely though, doing a good job on it by the looks so far.

Cheers for the comments guys.

This is what ive always done and ive never had problems with them coming loose again ha.

Looks good Paul, took long enough to get the spacers sorted ;)
I'll be whipping them off again in the next couple days to do this, so all should be good.

And yeah, I like to keep you on the edge of your seat with pointless updates... :p

Cheers matey. If I see anymore of the caps come up cheap, ill be snapping them off. Can never have enough of those badboys. Plus, i'm collecting them for when I eventually get a second set of F1s.

Looks good I've been holding out for some 20s but keep thinking sod it and going for 25s.

Il await some more pics and make my mind up. But have feeling house is coming before the flower this year. Another boostless year it seems.

Wow how much camber you added to the rear?
None. It's probably just a combination of how the car is sitting on that driveway and a s**t camera. They're straight (or look it) in person.
Now it needs slamming!
We'll see. It's not ever going to go stupidly low, as I still like a little bit of comfort and usability, but half of me does really want to invest in some coilovers just to drop it slightly further, to help pull off the "spaced" look.

Mini Update

Just a mini update. Today, I took delivery of a rear number plate assembly (courtesy of Adam @ Renault Wolverhampton - wicked price and service. They seem to beat any price I get quoted from other dealers). I only bought this as my bulb had gone, so for the price, thought I might aswell just replace the whole thing so that it looks refreshed...

Also got hold of a Skoda splitter yesterday (cheers Clarkey for getting it for me :) ), so got about fitting it this afternoon in the rain.

Definitely an awesome mod for the measly cost of £10. Finishes off the front end and gives it the look of "fake lowzz". lol

If the rain jogs on, I plan to give it a wash tomorrow.

Give it to me.
£5k, aka NO!!

Looks well Paul, the rear definatly looks like its got some negative camber going on.
Cheers matey!! I hope it hasn't, but I plan to go down the coilover route soon, so at that point ill have it all checked out and make sure i'm not running anything that I don't want.
I need me one of those splitters.

How much was the number plate light?
Really does finish off the front end and for a tenner, you can't complain.

Number plate assembly was £9.30 delivered. Bargain tbf.
