I tend to get, your car is crap - it's french. Make's me laugh when my mate's say it, they don't even own a car.

This gets me everytime. I mean i can only think of 1 major everyday driving car brand that is british and thats rover and they are.....well s**te.

Never really had an issue myself, one person said something as a laugh, but he knows I'm not a chav/racer. Most people seem to comment saying its a nice car, regardless if they know how fast/slow it is.

Too right mate. The fear of getting old is unfounded. I don't feel any different now to what I did at 20, except for having a far better life, more money, and more experience. f**k being 20 again. No one at that age realises what a pleb they are.

I don't really get abuse of my mates about my car. They just think its an old, loud, badly built shed. Which is essentially what it is. Only one of my mates is into cars really, he was mightily impressed with it.

My girlfriends mate asked the other day if it was a Corsa. I very nearly didn't give her a lift home, never been so offened.

I know it shouldn't but It really winds me up when people at work like to try and refer to me as a boy racer simply due to the car i drive.

Like today a colleague who drives a 1.4 206 joked saying on weekends i probably do LRT's (Laps Round Town) now i admit i may have down this when i was younger but i'm 28.

Can never think of a clever/witty comeback quick enough.

i think its down to how you drive it, i used to have a corsa c and didnt get called chav once, mainly because i didnt drive it as if it was the best thing on the road.
in your case, alot of people cant really tell the difference between 1.2s and 172's... but if you make it apparent that there is a difference then the abuse starts, otherwise, they'd just see it as any other average clio.

I don't want to turn the clock back 20 years. More knowledge, experience, direction and money than I ever had at 20. Don't get me wrong, my 20s were great years (pissed off round the world at 22 and didn't come back until 24. Did a degree from 26 -29. Great fun ) but it is much healthier to look forward rather than backwards.

LOL, I dont really know any non petrol heads. I gave one of my customers (garage owner) a lift in my mk1 the other day, and the next day he dug his williams 3 out of storage and sent it to the auto electricians to FINALLY be fixed.

Nearly all of my friends are car people or reformed car people who've settled down. I dont really care about anyone else

Most at my work are non petrol heads. Got a bit of stick for the modifications I reeled off when on the phone renewing insurance. I just said I enjoy driving a reasonably quick car and can afford to spend cash on it and not care about fuel economy unlike them.

I get the Mick taken out of me all the time for my Clio, most of them have nothing better to Do than print out cars for the same price off auto trader and give it me and say something like 'look what you could of got for the price of your clio' which I normally reply 'yeh but ur mum loves the seats in the Clio, easier for her to get down on me' that shuts them up
