its the same company as car data from what i can gather. leme gues, they said they had a buyer waiting for your car. they would put you in touch for an admin fee of say £100

please tell me you didnt pay these fools, youll not get a sale from them i promise you, your wallet will be £100 lighter though

Don't bother. They'll want a one off payment or something to 'pass on' your details or will get money for forwarding your details on to other companies. A waste of time and money.

Even phone companies, the bank etc, when they call and ask for some confirmation details just say that you dont hand out your details over the phone.

If they say its important offer to call the company back on the main customer services number.

So easy to get scammed.

If theres one thing I'd never do it would be handing out my details over the phone unless I've phoned the company.

Tell me you didn't hand them any money??

You've had your pants pulled down mate.. I doubt the bank will want to know.

contact autobuyer and confirm?

but tbh, you gotta be a stupid mofo to give details/money out over the phone nowadays.

  meriva vxr! really ;-)
report them to trading standards as the good they sold isn't as described - unless they told you all terms and conditions in a recorded phone call ie you are paying for their services and if the supposed buyer changes their mind then you still pay their fee - then they don't have a leg to stand on.

Did you get an address for them? Also if this fails contact your bank to do a charge back as you didn't authorise this payment!

yeah thats where i put my car up on , didnt realise that they would be giving my number out and that, just had a shower and i still feel like an idiot , im gonna go to the bank tomorrow and hopefully be able to get my money back, to be honest im an idiot to do such a stupid thing but like De Gal said, they never really explained at what they did , i got exicted because the mention of my car possibly being sold got me hooked. surly they cant do that , they have loads of ways to get in contact with them on their website.

screwed!!

The bank won't get your money back, you gave it to them!!

I have had Autobuyer phone me before. I started slagging off the women and she gave as good back. They said they had someone looking for a car like mine and would guarantee a sale, it'd only cost me £90 or whatever.

yeah i paid up , thats why i feel like a tw*t . christ i didnt think that this would happen to me?!

My guess is you will never hear from them again. My car was on autotrader for one week, finished 3 weeks ago and I am still being plagued with calls like this.

A mate of mine at work paid £100 for a "guaranteed" buyer and never heard a word.

so what do you think i should do? try the bank ? becuase i know that autobuyer wont give me a refund if i ask for one.

You can try the bank, and trading standards, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Take it on the chin, and learn from experience. You're not the only one.

His problem is, he paid them willingly. He now has to prove that they don't delivered the service they advertised.

Phone transaction should have a cancellation period surely? did you pay from a credit/debit card or by giving them your account number + sort code?

They tried this with me when I sold my last car. Bloke on the phone was very persuasive and got quite shirty when I refused to fall for his 'logic' that I couldn't lose out.

I distinctly remember him shouting "you're not making any sense mate!" and putting the phone down on me!

Are these companies legit, or is it a total fraud?

Wounded, you have been bent over mate! Just thank your lucky stars you didn't hand over £0000's to some Nigerian Prince for an imaginary car!lol!

the more i think about it the more it makes no sense in to why i gave her my details, STOOPID!!

Its a relatively inexpensive mistake luckily fella...just learn from it! If you are lucky you'll get it sorted but I wouldn't put too much effort into it..

what i dont understand is , how are they allowed to do that, for example if i rang someone randomally and said that i was from so and so and needed a deposit or something and they gave me the money that would be illegal , but when you got a company that provides "a service" its completly legal. baffles me, so many people have been conned the way i have tonight and yet nothing gets done about it.

Ring them first thing and asked for a refund, pretty sure for phone transactions there is a statutory 7 day cancellation period for most services.

yeah ill give them a ring tomorrow, they will probablyt turn round and tell me to do one like , will they be able to take any more money out of my account?
