Having troubles with insurance...Advice needed!!!

Just been sent my renewal and i pretty much just threw it away instantly.

i have a 1.2 mk2 ph1 clio. probably the slowest of the bunch.
I was paying £1550 last year with 1 years no claims and 1 years driving at 18YO

now i have 2 years no claims, 2 years driving and im 19 YO
and they quote me 1850?

im with tescos and i have the coilovers on the insurance.


any other suggestions? will flux/sky insurance insure me at 19?
its doing my head in, every year on my birthday, i spend all effin day looking for insurance then finding out i cant get it any cheaper. Really need some help on this as im starting to get worried i cant afford to run my car any more and that means i'd loose my job etc.

most 'normal' insurance companies put the price up just to catch the lazy people who will just auto renew. phone them and beat some money out of them.

then, call some modified specialists .. brentcare, greenlight, sky for starters .. get some quotes and see where you stand.

you're young, im amazed that a modified 172 is under 2 grand anyway TBH !

insurance has gone up for 95% of people this year anyway .. surely you've noticed the same theme in 100 threads a week on here alone ?

if you waste your birthday calling insurers, why not call them in the fortnight before hand ? :S

its a 1.2 not a 172 lol.

if i had a 172 and was quoted that i'd be happy and wouldnt argue tbh lol

i do but some of them are like, oh well, you dont aquire your 2 years driving experience untill your actually 19. which it annoying..

i just banged all my bits into a price comparisson website and it came up with 850? which has put my mind at rest a little. although, thats without mods. and i have alot.


i just wish the insurance company could see that im an enthusiast not a boy racer. I modify my car for the passion, not so i can go out racing it.
but they never do so there is no point in even trying

Try admiral. But go through comparethemeerkat as you get it slightly cheaper. oh and then phone up and try and get them to take some more cash off(this works).

I'm 30 so not in anyway in the same boat as you, but Adrian Flux almost never fail to come up with a great quote. Currently got my Tiger insured for them for £197 fully comp when the next best quote was about £800.

Admiral are insuring my Saxo and they undercut all the other companies I tried by some margin too. Couldn't do multi car though as they don't insure kit cars.

Definitely try Admiral imo. They were quite 'mod-friendly' with my old 1.2.
