Head question.

Please help me!
I have brought a second hand head and inlet manifold for my clio 16v, and have a friend of the family with all of the equipment to port and polish it (hes a diecaster with every machine under the sun to cut metal with!).
My question is how much can i port it by?
Nick Hill is understanably not ready to give away trade secrets only saying he has done it for so long he just knows from experience. damn!
The guy willing to do it for me has worked on older heads back when mk 1 escorts ruled but says in those days the metal on the heads was so thick you could attack it with an angle grinder!!! These days the margin for error is small as the metal is so thin.

Can anyone help me?

sorry for the long post!

Ben,
how have you been? Basically i want to try to achieve the same results as the hill power head at next to no cost! cant remember the exact description from the hp website though, i will be striping and fully rebuilding the head along with the port.

Well once its ported and polished, you wanna port the manifolds as well, match them to the ports in the head. Leave the inlet manifold runners rough and smooth out the exhaust headers.

Adam,

The cars pi$$ing me off cos the bloody thing never wants to work for any length of time. But other than that, all is well, lol.

Hows this big horsepower idea of yours coming along?

I got 2 spare heads in my garage and one bottom end now, lol. i could fancy having a go at playing with them, but i wouldnt be wanting to split my megane bottom end and willy head to try them, so dunno if itd be worth it!

think al have another read of HPs web site, never been there for ages!
