Head Unit Aux in lead

Im looking for an aux in lead coming from the cd changer inputat the back of my 2001 standard renault philips cd player, terminating in a 3.5mm jack plug (walkman size) to enable me to play my mp3 player through the standard head unit, using the cd changer connection as an aux in.

Ive seen them for other cars and head units, but Im at a loss for mine!

Any ideas where I could get one?

Cheers.

no, i havent got phonos on the back of the head unit, and u can use the cd input (square connector) as the aux in. Then if I have a jack plug at the end, i can plug anything in -mp3 player, laptop etc.

You could make one, just get a changer lead, cut one end off and solider the 3.5m jack point onto it. You just need to figure out what two wires carry the audio signal in the changer lead. However your head unit may not let you select the changer option unless all the wires are connected.

Multimeter would allow you to read which wires are giving out a voltage, that just leaves the info wire eg, he just hit cd up, ffwd etc.. and the 2 rca leads, just wire the 2 individual earth leads into one lead, solder it onto the earth point of the 3.5mil jack then solder the two remaining leads (l + r signal) to the other 2 points of the 3.5 mil jack, making sure you get them the right way round.

oh you should be able to figure out which are the signal leads by turning the volume right down, measure an almost 0.0 voltage then turn the volume up load and measure it agian, you should get some sort of voltage

easy.

Sorry, I dont know where you could get a lead from without actually buying a cd changer. I guess you could phone up Renault, say youve broken you old one how much is a new lead ? worth a try I guess

either that or you could buy one of the aux to phono leads above and I would be happy to make you a double phono socket to 3.5mil jack.

The lead will be exspensive-im reckonbing £50+. Could possibly buy a cd changer then return it minus a bit

Ask your local ice specialist. I had an alpine headunit and the cable for mine cost £25. to do the same with a sony one cost £100. An fm modulator could also be an option but there would be a loss in quality. These cost about £30.
