Hi All - I'll get straight to it, my work mate asked me to look at his Clio. Someone over the road from him seemed to do a bodged job of fitting an iPhone cradle to his car and since then his head unit no longer works.
No Display on the front of car, CD's eject, no Code option, beeps on each press of any key
I did some reading online and searching the forums. The information in his Clio manual and from what I've found said it was either Blown Fuse or something about interior temperature. I ruled out temperature as he says it was affecting him when driving too. I got him to check the fuse listed as AUD in the fuse panel (15 amp blue) and I looked didn't look like any broken wires. Now my questions as I don't know much on Clios (the model is the one from the renault website if this helps)
1 - What other suggestions can be made, I've read it can sometimes be more than 1 fuse I also saw something about the ciggy lighter being affected too (I've asked him to test this)?
2 - Could this problem be caused by a short in the system - I checked the wiring, the iPhone cradle has 3 wires red (switched) black (earth) purple (looked to be wired to live). The cabling had a cut in it and was touching metal where the cage was pressing the wire
Any other suggestions - is it just fuse related or one where he needs to do a reset. We tried removing the cabling, didn't manage to get the actual power lead disconnected will get him to try this too
