Head unit memory loss

Car  WANTED Arctic 182
I know this has been asked loads and loads of times, but i'm confused and just need someone to clean things up for me. Basically I've fitted an alpine head unit. It loses memory everytime i turn the ignition off. I read i need to swap the red and yellow wires around? where abouts to i swap them? I just pluged the renault wiring loom straight into the alpine head unit.

Also by swapping the wires will i not drain the battery by keeping a constant live feed to the head unit?

Hope someone can help!

You need a constant live connected.

Normally swap the red and yellow wires around, they'll have bullet connectors on already for this reason.

nope it will turn the unit off like it should do. i bet at the moment you can still have your headunit working with the ignition off

I bet I can't. It will only work if i have the key turned at least once, so that the clock appears on the display. You probably mean this, but I still want it to keep radio presets etc...

You need to swap the red and yellow wires round.
This won't drain the battery.
Common problem usually caused by inexperienced people replacing the head unit at some point in the car's life.
