Headlight cutting compund

Had a go with the 3M headlight restoration kit yesterday but i'm a little disappointed with the results. Headlights still looking a little dull. Bit of a rush job on my part.

Going to have another go today but I've got none of the cutting compound left. What can I use instead? Preferably something I can pick up in Halfrauds today rather than wait for delivery from ebay etc.
