Headlight washer jets not working - how to fix?

  AB182, Audi A5 3.0
I did a search on the forum, but after 20mins couldnt turn up what I am looking for. My headlight washer jets dont spray at all, I can ehar the motor working for like 2 seconds each side, but nothing comes out? Is there a known casue or fix for this as I have my MOT soon (and I presume they will have to work for the MOT)?

Thanks :)

They always break- fact If you take the time to fix them they will break just as quickly. Common fault on these bigtime!

If this helps mine passed my MOT and they have never worked, and was a strict MOT tester too

  Now Sold :-(
They are not the most complicated of designs.
A simple tube with a rubber washer at one end that is held in place by a small spring.
When the washer is activated the water overcomes the force of the spring and moves the rubber washer allowing the water to pass around it.
They fail because either the spring becomes weak and can no longer seal the washer against the body (Constant leaking) or a foreign object stops the spring from compressing and so no water will come out.
They are easy to strip down and repair but it's a pain having to take the bumper off to do it.

As has been said already for the purpose of the MOT they should work but I'm not aware of anyone reporting having failed the test because of a non functioning one.

mine did this for my windscreen one, what i found was they was clogged with a bit of crap inside. What i did was go to a garage near me and ask if i can borrow their air hose for a second, took the tub off from the filler bottle, sprayed air up it and then re attached the tube. Then just got a needle and put it in the end where the water comes out of and moved them to the positions to spray on the windscreen.

Once i did that they worked great and havent broke yet :)

Maybe it could be somewhat the same for the light washer jets??
