headlights on the blink!! any thoughts?

hi all

on the way home tonight decided to switch headlights on, as it wasnt quite dark enough for the automatic lights to be triggered. after 30mins of driving it was pitch black and moved the light setting back to zero hoping that the automatic headlights would than come on, however i lost the main beam and only the sidelights stayed on i moved the light selecter from 0 to on again a few times but had no luck.
i pulled to the side of the road and switched the engine off left it for a second then started it again and the lights came back on no problems

any ideas folks?

Are they Xenons?

If so take the units out and leave them on a radiator overnight - water/dondensation etc can get in (time of the year) Mine flickered when it pissed down found water in the ballast re-sealed it and dried them out overnight on the radiater at work aint played up since.

Check your sensor on the windscreen

This is common.. do a search on Xenon lights on here.

My left one used to go out now and again - touch wood its been OK for the last 2 weeks.
