...headphones

  Monaro VXR
If you just want it for gaming get some of those 5.1 surround headphones. Zalman do them and some other company bout £30 off amazon if i remember correctly.

Look at them. there just supposed ot recreate 5.1 type sound but they do use seperate speakers in the headphone to do it.

i bought a creative headset from pc world with a mic on, they fit lovely, but after 2 hours my ears are hurting due to em being abit too tight

shure in ears are best noise cancelling but v.expensive and too revealing for computer games as they will pick out any flaws in the material.

Aye Shure E2C/E3C are pretty damn good, but they don't have much bass, they can sound a bit tinny - great for classical styles, but not so good for heavier stuff imo. Etymotic are also great for in-ear noise cancelling phones.

Some suggestions for gaming:

General Purpose/Audio:

Grado SR-60 / S-80
Beyerdynamic Galactic DT231 (My current phones, very comfortable and very nice sound - at a good price).

  As father and son....
The SteelSound 5H's and the Siberias are made by the same company. the 5H's are way way better :)

In fact, ill check at home if i have a pair ive not used. Got tonnes of em sponsored so np ill flog em.

the bass compliants from people who demo shures arent founded when they buy them and fit them correctly though. they need to be very far within the auditory canal to get bass. simply sticking them in your ear isnt enough.

the bass on my shure ec2's is awesome and i listen to a lot of it, off my pod.

  Polo + Micra

nice choice, wont get much better than them, sennheiser HD25 and 25sp (cheaper) are decent cans

i swear by bose, got the acoustimass 3 in my bedroom, gonna get acoustimass 10 for my new flat tho, the sound is incredible, you turn the volume up and up and it just wont distort at all, mint!

I use a pair of Speedlink 5.1 Medusa (non USB) surround sound headphones for playing BF2, the surround sound headphone cups are fantastic you can hear people creeping up on you.

I got them from overclockers and i think they cost about £30, but i did need to buy a seperate 5.1/7.1 soundblaster driver card though as the onboard 5.1 sound chip would not drive the headphone amp properly.

A soundblaster 7.1 oem card will cost about £25

Edit - forgot link - http://www.speed-link.com/

Got the zalmans from scan, less than 24 hours after my order! not sure I've plugged in right though lol. Love them, I can hear people coming on CS: S and be ready, they've earned me a few kills already! [/geek]

You got to love it when you can hear someone creeping up on you with their knife out about to stab you, then you spin round and shoot a full load into them.
