Heat shield between exhaust and fuel tank

Car is mainly for weekends/track days so not used daily.

The heat shield as stated in thread title is falling off and held on with a couple clips, it's flapping about and rattling rather annoyingly.

Is it ok to remove it or rather stupid since it keeps heat away from the fuel tank? At the moment I'm thinking stupid but thought some advice from CS gurus would sway my mind in the right direction.

Thanks

I've removed mine, couldn't handle the rattling! Drove me insane and makes your car look like a bag of s**t when pulling off slowly! I was purposely over revving when pulling off to stop it lol. Done about 10k without it, no problems so far.

Get a metal drill bit and some self tappers and big washers and fix it back up. I've done it on mine last weekend. It's easily added 5bhp. Lol.

But seriously. It's deffo worth the fix. It's there for a reason.

Haha both sides of the story! i honestly cannot decided what to do, i really cannot it see it making a difference if i remove it but always have that thought of well will it?

Anyone else?
