Heat soak from IK

  145db Euro'd clio
just realised i was getting it really bad the other day. any way of stopping it?
building a custom cold air feed?
was thinking making a template, fiberglassing then cutting a hole and fitting a relocation pipe

something a little like....this:

if that makes sense?

dude im loving the picture :) the idea is good but id use stainless steel or aluminium to cover the filter if your going to do this or just get a viper with cold air feed dude

Refit the original airbox.

Renault didn't spend millions of pounds developing it for no reason!

valid point indeed but he already has shelled out for a kit so would defeat the purpose

But he's kind of contradicting himself.

If he wants it just for the noise and maybe lose 2? bhp, then a cone filter is fine. I have one because I like the noise they give.

But if he's that worried about heatsoak, then the only way to elimuinate it completely is to fit a maxogen (£290!!) or refit the original box.

Simples.

i suppose.
i do have it for the noise mainly.
but i really hate the whole lag of throttle response.
it feels as if the car is just being choked.
but i like the noise too much
maybe just do away with it and get a zorst?

but they're too much money
trying to doit on the cheap with stuff i already have

Cut up a large plastic milk bottle and glue tin foil onto the inside, then cut a large bore hole at the other end and fix your cold air feed to this. Secure over filter.

Done.

I'd do away with it personally. I had a bmc cda that i bought cheap off my mate. I put it on and the car sounded a beast, but there was too much of a performance drop to warrant having it on, so i sold it.

if its going to cost you nothing to try it, then try it fella what do you have to loose?

If it doesnt work then bung the original filter back on

yeah but less hot air than an open ik. a lot less. and you still get noise. not saying its the most suitable thing to do but its an option to have the best of both worlds.

Waste of time. Heatsoak doesn't matter on a 1.2, won't give you any performance gain even if it is getting nothing but cold air, just a bit of noise.

I disagree even though it is slow my old lupo suffered from bad heat soak when the caf broke. It felt slow and sluggish and that was only a 1.4
