Heat wrap exhaust manifold??

Hi guys, sorry its not a quiestions directly at Clio's but its a general exhaust manifold question. I'm going to be fitting my Spoon mani in 2 weeks but i'm not sure if i should heat wrap it or not.

A few people have advised me not to do it as the extra internal heat can apparently damage the welds? Also if its not done evenly it can cause cracks? I have no previous knowledge of exhaust manifolds so any help would be great.

I just found a few old post's on another forum which pretty much say the same Fred. I won't be coating it so i think i'll be leaving it alone

Did mine a few years back. Biggest difference i could tell was a lighter wallet

Lol cheers for that, i think i'll be leaving it then. Apparently its needed for turbo'd cars more.

Not worth the risk of cracking by the sounds of it

As far as I can gather it's fine on stainless manifolds. Standard manifolds when wrapped will heat up and can become brittle

in the best case your engine room ( is it the right word?) will be not so hot, so the engine is cooler than before.

in the worst case your manifold glow and get hard so it might crack
