Hello, New Cleo 172, first time owner, please help

  RS Clio 172
Hi,

I just bought a 172, love it to bits already, I have encountered two issues I would really appreciate some advice with.

I'm not sure how or when it happened but the windscreen washer tank is code 'F', the fluid just goes straight out onto the floor , how do you even get a hole in it ?

I guess my first question is, can I just source any old clio washer bottle or does it need to be specific in any way (any ideas where best to obtain one ?), and secondly how hard is it to replace yourself ? any advice with how to go about it would be much appreciated.

Secondly the car came with a kenwood cd player unit but it seemed the previous owner had been unable to get it to sit flush, I have replaced it with my Pioneer jobbie but once again , no force on earth and no amount of careful jiggling will make it sit flush. I don't get it to be honest, I have never had this trouble with a stereo unit/car before, as it seems to be a problem with both CD players I have I'm guessing there is something I am missing /need to know ?

Thanks in advance

M.

Washer bottle is generic so get any old one from a scrapper. Remove wiper arms, black plastic trim, fiddle about a bit, sorted.

CD players should fit fine unless theres a load of amp wires in there. Easiest solution would be to remove the dash top and sort the wires out from above. Simple enough job.

Theres a bigg rubber bung type thing at the back of the slot. Removing that creates a load of room.

Thanks for the answers guys, I found the guide and have already sourced a bottle for a tenner assunming anything from any clio 2000-2004 will be ok, looks about right to my untrained eye.....

Yup , just cant seem to get it to stay flush with the dash, I suspect it's that bung, but maybe there are some wires too, Ill get in there with a torch etc asap.

Next up I think the speakers need sorting the front right has a bit of a buzz.... cant hurt to improve them at some point anyway.

I'm actually surprised no one else has had any probs getting a non standard stereo in, it been a bit of a sh1t so far to be honest.

There is a lot of wires behind there. If you've got small enough hands to fit in there there is a little space down on the left hand side with just enough room to shove the majority of the wires in that little gap. Should have just enough room to push it in enough to fit flush.

Have you got small hands??

Sorry, no, hands are too, big, I spootted the space on the left and did my best to make the wires go in it but sadly it still pushes itself very slowly out of the dash 3-4 mm, earlier it worked itself even further out. I must confess it's winding me up a bit.

Somethings not right if all you've got is a standard unit and no extra wires. I've fitted loads and unless theres more wires, theres never been an issue.

Lol, you make me damp.

Oh my.... ;)

Oh.

(I didn't mean standard renault unit, I meant just a headunit with no amp/changer leads etc)

Lol, one of the more amusing thread derailments I have seen ;)

Nope , just a standard Pioneer head unit, fit perfectly in the last car, the Kenwood which did not fit happily in the 172 is now comfortably installed in the old car without issue.

Well thats embarrassing.....

Just remembered something else too, the damn airbag light is on which I think may be causing the service light to be on, halfords wants fifty quid to tell me whats up ? It's been serviced recently (not renault dealer) everything seems spot on and happy as far as I can tell, don't really want to fork out fifty just to re set a light ....

all looks connected and ok ? short of re-wiring the lot (there is a surprising amount of wire under there, for a seat ?)
