HELP!!!! 1.8 16V Problem

Hi All im new to this so here goes!!

I have a Clio 1.8 16V which up until yesturday has been fantastic!!

I parked it up with no problems come out to it the next day and it sort of started coughing and splutering and not idling particulary well!!

Once its started and its got over its miner hicup! it runs 100% cold/warm until u switch it off!! When u then try to restart it when its warm it then turns over fires once and fails to start!! u then need to crank it over for about 15-20 secs and it fires up fine with no probs!! ANY IDEAS? i havent a clue!!

Engine coolant temp sensor or engine position sensor, more likely to be the coolant one.

the engine coolant temp sensor is a very common fault (as are a lot of things lol)

i had a bad coil on mine which caused a starting problem, however it didnt affect the running of the car at all

i did have a misfire problem with a heavily corroded dizzi cap and rotor arm

the engine position sensor as mike has mentioned, can cause all kinds of problems if faulty

sadly the idle speed control valve is a common problem aswell however you can take this off and clean it with carb cleaner and WD40

Which is the engine position sensor?

its on top of the gearbox under the airbox

might be the source of a few little tickles!

2 10 mm bolts, under the thermostat housing.its pish easy to change!takes all of 5 mins!

Is this the same as the crank shaft angle sensor?? or diferent? can i get it from GSF?

Yeh euro car parts job!!! Did u know dan that fom renault the CTS is nearly £60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and from Euro car parts its 10 sheets! Scandalous!
