Help 172 major problems

Hi all ....great forum by the way

I dont know where to start:S

i have owned my 2003 clio 172 for almost a month now a couple of days ago
my stop and battery light came on(flickering).then yesterday esp,airbag and
abs lights came on,then today the car wont start at all when you turn it over
it just clicks(no turn over) and the petrol and temp gauge just goes up and
down.....i did manage to start it after using jump leads but 5 or so
mins later it died and will no start.

any help would be appreciated:dapprove:

Have you changed the battery?

Sounds like its knackered and brought the imobiliser on.

you should have borrowed one out of your mates car to see if it actualy was the battery first.

thanks all..changer the battery and it started first time however the only lights on
now are the stop and battery:dapprove:........does it need to be reset or is
somthing else wrong

plus now need stereo code

Check that the + cable to the alternator hasnt snapped off at the terminal, this is quite a common fault afaik.

It was the only time that I got those same error lights up on my dash.

Take the stereo out, my code is printed on the top with a pen. Not very secure I must admit

Go to your renault dealer with log book they should give it to you.

you should make sure your alternator is charging up your battery cause everything will just be working off the battery and if its not getting charged up you'll get the same problem again!

I phoned them earlier and they want £15+ and insurance + logbook
and another form of identification.....may as well throw in the Wife as well:rasp:

Had the same issue with mine - new alternator sorted it

Just had it back........new alternator sorted it(hopefully)
