HELP:car not performing can hear a ticking noise?

NEED HELP:

just took the car for a spin, reved it at 1st gear and the car didnt perform
and it made a ticking noise.

Does anyone know what could be the problem, its due a service which is booked in for the 16th sept at a renault specialist.

i check the car were was not much oil.

its i can still drive it slow, but did cut off a few times.

does any have an idea what the peroblem could be?

Sounds like the hydraulic lifters!

I had the exact same problem.

lol sounds to me like its ran its self low on oil, that explains ur ticking! how low below the low mark?!

Was it checked cold or hot, Not all the oil will be up in the sump if warm, I picked up an EOS from a site for work which wasnt registering on the dipstick and that was fine.

Also ran mine just above min and it made a tapping noise, Filled it up and it cured it, Now as i hardly use the car its tapping again, Flushed it still there, Lifters clogged me thinks b****cks Think i've read here they're about £20 but have to be done with the cambelt, Luckily mines due so can have it done then

i was low a month ago, i topped it up with alittle £10 bottle. I need to drive the car to a local specialist like markfish or ren7oaks. If i top it up will it be safe to drive. Do specialist have RAC that customers can use

Id say top it up so its half way between the markers, Then do an oil change as soon as you can.

lol definitely top the oil up. Unless you want to ruin the bottom of your engine like I did.

if its ran its self dry on oil then the damage is done so simply toping up wont sort it. however it could be something else causing it
