**help** Car sounds like a bag of nails.

Idle is very uneven, judders under acceleration and when cruising in the 2-3 rev range.

Checked under the bonnet when i got home as it sounded funny.

Think its the master HT lead was shorting as shown below.

If the rattle is comeing from under the rocker cover it might be tappets but if not it might be the Distributer

Saw it sparking where the arrow is. not had chance to do a full service yet as am saving up for cambelt change.

Its not that the car ratles it judders as if someone is lightly tapping the breaks or engaging the clutch.

If it's sparking across where you have indicated, give it a good clean with brake cleaner. have a look under the bonet with the engine running when its dark and see if it's still there. Sometimes a build up of dirt can provide an easy path for the HT and it will track down to the easiet earting point.

if you have found the ht lead arcing you've answered your own question. an arc/short like that would cause a misfire hence the judder and poor idle.

Deffinately missfiring today, am just going to replace the leads and plugs and give the whole thing a good clean. Where can I get good (not performance) HT leads from as the Halfrauds ones are shite.

Also found the exhaust was leaking from the cat-back joint AGAIN which hasny helped matters. Cheers for the help guys.

Will have to give them a ring as i ned a few parts from them soon anyway.

Anybody else knoe where I could price up other than Halfrauds, ktec, motor bits.

Well just spent my afternoon changing plugs and leads and sealing exhaust joint.
Ended up getting leads from Halfords (didnt realisethey did bosch ones) and got the fancy 4 pin plugs.

Sounded miles better when i started her after fitting the plugs going to let the exhaust go off over night and fingers crossed she will be back to normal :D

Thanks for the help guys.
