HELP: Clio 172 Cup Alarm Keeps going off

Help!!!!

Bought the car and brought the car home tonight and the alarm keeps going off, looked in the manual and it said to turn the key from on to off twice in 10 seconds, then get out and lock in 20 seconds

This will turn off the motion sensor. i thought this might do it but it doesn't feckin thing keeps going off annoying the neighbours any ideas?

Alarm is Renault Compact 7895

Dont know an answer but you could disconnect the battery till the morning so you don't piss your neighbors off to much.

I've just had a search, i was panic posting....... if it goes off again apparently you can open the car and get in passenger seat, lock using button on the dash then get out and lock car using key in passenger door, that way the alarm doesn't get set. Also read that water in the bonnet catch can cause problems, not sure why but will go round open and close everything, failing that then i suppose i'll have to disconnect the battery.

Car seems to lock itself after a minute or so so it's not like i can leave it unlocked over night. I've moved the pilar sensors in in the hope that nothing going by is setting it off.

Will sleep with key to enable quick turning off if goes off

Yeah mate lock it from the button on the dash and just get out of the drivers door and lock it with the key. Alarm wont be set but rather sleep in peace than it going off every 2minutes!

Is it the Renault alarm or after market? Could be a faulty bonnet sensor? Take a look at it.

Mine is doing exaclty the same at the moment, its really pi**ing me off. It only does it when its wet or being washed. I have had so many problems with my 172 I wish i just kept my civic type r sometimes ! but ow well

Mine was like that.... turned out the bonnet switch was corroded and letting in moisture... plus its handily located so that as soon as any water gets down the side of the bonnet, it handily washes around it... bloody french!

Funny you should say that bonnet switch because I noticed a hairline crack in mine when i was cleaning yesterday, it must be getting in there. I was hosing down the front end when it decided to make me jump and go off ! This is very useful information. Cheerz buddy

No problem :approve:
They're not expensive to replace, but to avoid having to ponce around taking the battery off all I ended up doing was cutting the wires and taping them until i got a new switch. Problem solved and no more angy neighbours at 3am!

Why dont you just angle the sensors up towards the roof?

My alarm kept going off, whether the car didn't like the look of a dog walker or if a fiesta with a dustbin on the back went past my alarm went off!

Obviously pointless having an alarm but my neighbours gradually began looking at me in ways I worried about...
