Help fitting new headunit to my girlfriends clio.

  Clio 1.4 RT 1996.
My girlfriend has a P reg clio 1.4 RT, it has the original (I think) blaupunkt headunit at the moment and we cant seem to work out how to remove it? It has small holes in each corner of the unit, do you stick something in these to remove?

Also is there any adapters etc i will need to install a new alpine headunit into this car?

Thanks, Si

You use special pins from Renault mate. But I used two wire coathangers to take mine out, just bend the coathangers till you have 2 pins which can fit inside the holes and push them as far in as they go.

You shouldn't need any adapters to install the new headunit mate, just straight swap over I'm thinking.

  Bye Bye 182....
You can buy an adapter from halfrauds for approx £5 but a wire coat hanger does the job. You need to make 2 adapters (1 for each side of the unit) Make a u shape with the coat hanger wire and put it in all four holes at once. It should just pop out then. With regard to fitting he sterio you will probably need a dinn cage / facsia adapter. Again these can be purchased from halfrauds and possibly a new wiring harness.

Hope this helps! :D

And then just put them in the holes and push and it pops out?

Thanks very much, Si

yeah just push it in you will 'feel' a click and then pull gently. It should then release. Just to lengths of wire possible about 8 inches in length bent in half to make the adapter. As said before a wire coat hanger is the easiest thing to use.

Well i finally got round to taking the old headunit out and the coathanger method worked well! Thanks.

It seems i need a wiring adapter though as the clio has three ISO type plugs and the Alpine headunit wiring has only two ISO style plugs.

Does anyone know what adapter i need and where to get it from?

Thanks very much, Si

get the part from autoleads. halfrauds can order it or any decent speaker shop. As for the part number sorry dont have a clue!

halfrauds have an auto leads catalog. They keep it behind the Ripspeed desk. They should be able to get it for you. If not get the number for autoleads and ring them. They are one of the biggest manufacturers in the business so they should be able to help.

youll find that one plug is for the stalk control. two should fit.
