  mk1 clio 1.8rt
firstly hi my names pete i own a clio mk1 1.8rt but have just fitted an rsi engine loom and ecu. all wired up and fitted in correctly but i have a really bad problem that it turns over but i have no fuel or spark. ive tried changing the coil and bridging the fuel pump relay but i still cant get anything! and if i dont get something soon my nice clio will meet an 18 pound sledge hammer lol. the only things i didnt change in the conversion were map sensor gearbox and crank sensor but they were all working on my rt engine and im fairly sure these parts are compatible? i have been told the ecu could be locked so i sent it to a bloke who is now having trouble with it! the only thing i can think of doing now is changing the interior wiring loom because it might not be compatible and getting an ecu which suits the interior loom as there is supposed to be a decoder in the loom which sends a coded signal to the ecu to allow it to be unlocked and start. Please give me your views on this or point me in the direction of someone who has completed this conversion. i am seriously not far of giving up and i really dont want to do this as i really like the car. Is there anyone cheap you guys know of in the midlands might come have a look? or do you know someone selling or breaking an rsi cheap. Thank you for your time in advance!!

regards Pete

If you've used a phase 2 or 3 car then yep you've got a problem you ned the decoder sorting as the ECU locking. Best of IMo trying to get a phase 1 ECU for the car or getting the ECU imobiliser code removed.

Sounds like you've got a wiring issue anyway.

thanks for your quick reply i have sent the ecu away with £100 and the bloke is saying its an odd ball one and he's having trouble de-coding it! also the car the engine is fitted in is a 1992 k plate and the doner car was a 1995 m plate so it should be ok shouldnt it? i.e no immobilisation? the fuel pump and coil were definatly workin in the rt before the transplant but it just seems strange that i cant power the pump up manually! are the dash and engine looms definatly compatible?

Looms can be different hence why convserions done this way are oftne a right pain.

I take it the pump works with a direct feed?
