help me understand oil please



right tbh i have never understood those stupid pictures in the owners manuals of cars with all the arrows on and lots of different grades of oil upon them so could you tell me what oil im best off using according to this please

0W, 5W, 10W etc refers to the oils viscosity when cold 0degC IIRC

40 is its viscosity at 100degC

Yes the 15W (winter) is the lowest grade your car will take.

But, for better engine protection, use 0W or 5W.

SAE 40 is fine for most cars, some fords,nissans,VWs use SAE 30 for longer engine life, dont use that grade unless it says.
