help needed re:ebay and paypal...

i was looking at item on ebay and found one which was over priced, so i sent the guy an offer.

he accepted and closed the auction early, he asked for my paypal account to request the money.

i then sent the money via paypal, if i dont recieve the item am i fucked?

(please if your going to help me out and reply, give me information you actually know, not just guessing)

Pretty sure you are as you didn't buy the item through ebay.

If you pay via Paypal, you are covered by Paypal as it is nothing to do with Ebay. Should have nothing to worry about.

well as paypal cant take money out people account it would be them paying out of their own pocket if i dont recieve the item?

Did you mean to say "as paypal can't take the money out of the peoples account" ?? That's what I thought you were getting at any way.

If you don't receive the item AND the seller doesn't have proof of delivery then he is liable. Paypal will take the money out of his Paypal account and if they can't he'll start getting nasty letters from debt collectors.

i guess if they go prove that your buying an item and not just giving him money, i could say he requested money for an item in which we have been emailing and i have proof over ebay emails

you not covered with paypal unless he has a confirmed account. it will tell you if you're covered....

got to your paypal payment email and it will say confirmed or unconfirmed somewhere.... should have told you if you are protected or not..
