Help please:-) new clio...3 problems...........

Hi folks, hope you are all well, just got myself a clio for the missus, its not a sport its a '04 plate 1.2 but i thought you might be able to help anyway.

So i got the car for nothing and put it through the MOT but there are 3 problems im having that i need help with. I look after all the cars, im an engineer by trade and have spent the last 5 years keeping a mk1 mr2 on the road, amongst other things so dont feel you need to hold back.......

1- Airbag and service light, i know this is usualy either the under seat wiring, pre-tensioner airbag cpu etc etc but in my case my mate (who gave me the car) had a bump and had to replace the door and seatbelt unit, short story... there are now no sensors there for the airbag cpu to detect and so im getting the warning light, ive heard that clip might be able to help me get rid of the light, any help on this subject would be great.

2- Stereo, so i got myself a clio CD player and plugged it in but i dont have any kind of screen to enter the code into. im also not 100% that the sticker showing the code is the actual code..... if it is whats the point of a code? lol so how do i get this stereo going? help!

3- Steering does not self center. So ive WD40d the crap out of the bottom UJ and it got a LOT better but its not 100%, any advice much appreciated.

so yeh i hope you can help :)

thank you
Jamie

Can't help Jay sorry, have you tried searching these symptoms in the search bar? This may bring up some suggestions as to what it may be.

With regards of the steering wheel self centering this is probably a universal problems for a few cars.

Hi Jay,1)where are you located,2)have you no display of CODE on the screen above the centre vent,3)Is the tracking a mile out or something bent?4)If you jack the front end up.does the steering turn from lock to lock freely?

Hi Steve, im in northampton,
I dont have a screen above the vent, i dont seem to have any screen at all? (see pic 1) thats whats got me confused, i get beeps but ive no screen to do anything with it.
Yep the steering is nice and free both on the floor and off, its much much better after a dousing of WD40 on the UJ at the bottom of the column but its more that it wont self center, and it seems worse in one direction than the other. Also had it tracked up and that didnt make any difference although it was out as id changed the track rod end for MOT. I dont think anything is bent, i was under there a lot for the MOT work and it all looked OK, i wont rule it out though. more WD40 could be required as it fixs all known issues of any kind! :)

Hi Jay,if you have no display on the screen above the centre air vent, either the fuse has gone,or the unit is shot.
If you have EPS,electronic power steering, when setting the tracking,it is critical the steering wheel is centralised.

The cheaper models did not have the display in the dash but had a head unit with a display in it , The shaft that runs through the middle of the steering rack can bend if impacted/curbed hard this will give you tight steering or no return .
