HElp! removing rear axle nut

Ok, ive got a 99 clio with rear drums, and at the mo its on axle stands, as im trying to get the rear axle nuts off to adjust the brakes, but i cant get them off!

firstly, is it anti clockwise or clockwise? (i know some cars are clockwise to loosen) and how do i get it off without bouncing the car of the axle stands?

  Lots of Alfas
Its anti clockwise, they will be very tight you will need a long bar to try and wrench it off. When I did mine i got a friend to help, we both almost lifted the car off the stands to get it off.

Remember when putting it back to to either replace the nut or use some thread lock.

Yeah, i thought anti clockwise..

Ive already been to halfords to buy a nice long bar

I was just gona put old one back on!

looks like i might have to abandon it for today...

where can i get the new axle nuts?

30mm nut.
Though you'd have known Fred.
I just use a breakers bar and stand on it.
Never had problems by not stick a new nut back on though just make sure you use locking thread compound. Then again I'm stupid and it is a stipulation from Renault that it should be chnaged ever time.
