HELP!!! RENAULTSPORT V CUP

i need help quickly please, im just about to buy a clio rs200 but i am wondering if it is worth waiting to try and find a rs200 cup, i have already driven the normal rs200 and was very impressed. also do normal clio 200's come with brembo brakes or is it just the cups?

All 200's come with Brembo's. A 200 cup looses you a fair few creature comforts for example: Keyless Entry, Auto Lights & wipers amongst others.

You can get a 200 with Cup pack which is basically a full fat 200 with all the toys but with the cups suspension & Red calipers & faster rack.

A non cup has silver brembos & Cup packed or cup has red brembo's.

I went for a 200 with cup packs for the best of both worlds.

Right well this may get confusing.


The normal 200 is the highest specification, it comes with brembo's as standard but they are unpainted.

There is an optional "Cup" pack that has a stiffer chassis, a faster steering rack and the brake callipers are painted red..


The 200 cup is a low spec car, doesn't have A/C and various other toys as standard but does have the "Cup" pack as standard.



My preference without having driven them would be a normal 200 with the Cup pack as it has the biggest spec.


There is always a huge debate on here as to what spec is the best so just go with what you want and prefer.

thanks very much for the help :) theres 2 im looking at a rs200 with all the stranded stuff but with the recaros at £9970 and a rs200 cup i think its just the basic cup with recaros but it is a cat d at £7995
 
Having owned both the Cup and a "FF" with Cup chassis i would say go for the FF model with the option Cup chassis. The Cup is very basic, lots of rattles and creaks where as the softer dash in the FF model deals with bumps in the road a lot better. Options options get a car with as many as you can.

I would also suggest getting an insurance quote before you commit to purchasing a car you might struggle to insure.
 
the garage said it was light bumper damage and a cracked light but its been fully resprayed to match but im unsure on it just because of in insurance claim
insurance isnt a problem ill only be £800 for it and id be £600 for my fiesta at renewal time
 
It is still branded a Cat D no matter how little damage it had, when you want to get rid it will be almost impossible.

Hmmm those insurance quotes seem a touch suspect to me, your own name?

Light bumper damage and a cracked light wouldn't write of a Clio 200. Simple as that.

and yeh the quotes are in my name and me as the named driver just adding my mum and dad to the insurance to bring it down a bit more

That is the same spec as my cup was, but as said try and get a FF model with all the gadgets. The best way to do it is name your budget and any colour references?

Little more cash a lot more car

Suspension, steering, colour of the brakes, plastic trim (it's not colour coded on the cup), interior dash plastics (cheaper and lighter on the cup), lack of auto headlights and wipers on the cup, no keyless entry on the cup, and that's only what I can think off from the top of my head.

However if you get a cup chassis'd 'normal ' RS 200 then it gets the same suspension,brakes and steering as the cup.

Hope that makes sense.

Edit: the cup doesn't have air con either which is standard on the FF.

i meant the difference as in handling sorry for not being so specific

i wanted a vxr a while ago but there so common were i live now every one has one id have been willing to pay that at the time. elephant will insure me as the named driver and policy holder with 2 years ncb no points an 2 other drivers on the policy for £800 odd

Is that 3rd party or fully comp? i remember when i was 19 and i had a citroen AX GT which i paid £1800 for a years insurance. I now refuse to pay more than £300 but that was 12 years ago :o. BS or not imo i would say save your money and stick with a slower car till you have a little more experience.

As other have said just do your re-search and test drive both and see what you like. I am genuinely impressed with that quote! im 900 at 21 in Aberdeen! I do have a crash 4 years ago but have 3 year NCB since then!
 
Why are you all so obsessed with his age and quote amount? Its not even on the OP's agenda, and frankly - its rude to ask.

He may be fibbing, but that's his perogative if he wants to save face. For some it can be a tad embarrasing to say, "yep, I'm young and so the premium on this car is gonna be £2500", but if he's got the cash (clearly does if he can afford a 10k car at 19) then its up to him!

OP Must be nutting someone off at pace, I'm 21 with 4 years NCB on a multi car and that's a good 800 a year in a good area!
 
i think im so cheap for my insurance because theres not really any clio sports of any kind in my area theres only about 2 182 cups there was a 197 and i think theres a 172 but i havent seen it for a good while now

iv done a nothere quot ans its went up a bit but not much with me being the policy holder named driver and owner with 2 years NCB and 3 other drivers all with 12+ full uk license im £1,032.44p and compared to my fiesta with the same details im £667.80 and for the sake of £365 i know what id rather insure
 
Ah fair enough thats about what Im paying. Haha yer rather be driving the clio! I know what you mean not many RS's around aberdeen, seen acouple more 197 near my flat recently tho. You stay in the city or out in the shire?

Other cars and their in the area have no impact on insurance though £1,000 for your self seems pretty reasonable but were getting side tracked on this insurance thing.

Buying a car and running a car are two completely different things. General running costs on something like a 197/200 will be a lot higher than on a Fiesta. Things such as fuel costs, servicing costs and general consumables (tyres, brakes etc) will all be higher and that's on top of the £30 per month extra you'll be paying out for insurance. I've a friend with a Zetec S fiesta (current shape) and in town driving (he lives in Derby) he's currently getting 39mpg, that's close to 25% better that you'd expect on a 197/200. Road tax will also be more on the Clio. Just things to remember. Adding it all up it could easily cost a minimum of £80 per month more.

Take some more time to think about the whole deal before you jump into a 10k car

I'm your age, originally I was looking at getting a Zetec S or Ignis Sport, then because I had taken a while to decide I'd racked up enough to buy a 197, but then when I thought it all out it made more sense to go for the 182, cheaper to insure, more mpg and less depreciation, generally a much cheaper car for me to own.
 
How can you get the insurance that cheap I'm 20 with 3 years no claims and have a 197 and my insurance was 1200 fully comp with my mum as a named driver putting my dad on made it go up? , and my access is £600.
