Help, wheel bearing prices?

  sport 172 mk2
Just come off phone to Renault. To replace rear wheel bearings they want £145 per side! Is this the going rate?

I was expecting around £145 for both sides. Thinking now that will try an independent garage, anyone had this done? If so who by, and how much? (if you don't mind me asking).

thanks in advance

Assuming were on about front?

You can strip them down if you have some tools etc say 1~1.5 hours labour a side then about 10 minutes a garage will change you if you give them the hub and a new bearing (£35 or so a side)

£165 a side is easy to active as you have to think they'll price it up as say 1.5 hours a side at £65 say an hour thats £100 labour then £40 or so for the bearing.

A cheaper rate garage can do it for less as they'll have lower labour rates.

Its the rear off side that needs attention, as the near side was changed about 8 thousand miles ago (before I owned it), those labour charges are the real killer it seems.

Rear ones are quite simple. just remove the disk an get a new bearing pushed in.

The disk migh be worn though so often wort getting new ones at the same time.
