Help with 172 cup

  172cup.Mr2TurboStiV5
Just bought the above and I'm after some advice.

I'll be using the car as my daily drive and also some track days + trips to the ring next year!

It needs two new tyres, now it's got toyo t1r on it at the moment should I stick with them??

Also what brake fluid is best for track use??

I've changed the front brakes and bought ds2500 pads but what pads should I go for at the back??

How do the cups handle on track stock?? Should I look at changing the springs and playing with camber set up or just leave it and see how I get on??

Thanks Dan

Tyres - If its for a daily car/some track use maybe a set of PE's or if you can get some other wheels for track use then some semi slicks like 888's.

For the rear pads - Some OE Renault ones will be fine, have a look at some 4.1, or maybe 5.1 fluid...Motul is excellent fluid.

Cup's handle great as stock (alot of people buy them then fit sh*t coilovers and ruin them) maybe re fresh a few bushes and mounts, take it on track then look to upgrade shocks and springs etc to see what your happy with.

What Jimbo has already said is pretty much bang on. All I'd say is don't bother with 5.1 fluid. Its hideously expensive stuff and 4.1 will actually last longer.

If it is strictly staying as a daily with the occasional track use then there really isn't any point shelling out for a coilover kit. In my opinion Cups look their best if either completely standard or utterly track wh0red. Keep it as it is and simply refresh any potentially tired OEM parts with new.
I never drove mine on track in standard spec but i've heard they are more than capable.....just ask MarkCup.

What does let it down are the seats so maybe look to put in a nice set of adjustable bucket seats and a CG Lock for the seatbelt. Not essential but again, personal preference.

But above all, enjoy it!

Thanks for tips guys. I was also thinking about braided lines as well? If so what make would you go for?

My plan is cadwell park early next year then over to the ring around may June time! :) I've done a fair few track days now so I'm sure I'll need some more tweaks doing after cadwell.

Just to give you an idea with front brakes I, like alot of others run the following set up;

Brembo HC disks
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Goodridge Stainless Braided brake lines
Motul RBF 660 fluid

and this is a fantastic set up which im lead to believe is more than capable for track use so i would honestly say i would recommend this set up.

Alright Dan, what happened to your 182 mate? I can meet you again with some Brembo rear pads if you like.

If you plan on doing a lot of track days then you should think about getting a cheap set of 15 inch wheels as the tyres are a lot cheaper, especially if you plan on getting R888 or similar. They come up on here quite often.
