Help with PC'ing question...

  172
Ive just bought an Astra Sportive van to use for work. Its white and looks superb, however i was thinking about having it PC'ed before i get the new vehicle livery plastered all over it.

Is it worth doing a white vehicle? I can hardly see any swirls etc.

If it isnt, if i wash it, clay it, what would i protect the paintwork with?

Would you have the vinyl fitted after the wax stage, or after its been clayed then wax it?

Im confused. lol

I wouldn't bother to be honest, especially if it is a works van and chances are that it will not be treat with the same respect as your daily drive would be for example.

Wash, clay, polish with SRP and seal with EGP. A tried and tested combo that works well, and if you put a 2 or 3 layers of EGP down you will see a couple of months protection.

As for your third question, I'm not certain, but i would assume that the vinyl would need clean paint to adhere to properly.

Wouldn't bother, the grafix place will cover it in a 'degreaser' or such like to ensure the stickers adhere to the surface.

Wash, Clay and then get the graphics stuck on. Then I would be tempted to get a decent spray wax/sealant to protect it after.

^^ Can you recommend one Rich?

I dont want to polish and seal it, then have trouble with the vinyl not sticking or something.

It will stick watever you do Russ, they use heavy cleaners on the paint before hand.

But i wouldnt bother waxing just seal it after.

I understand it will stick, however i dont fancy waxing it all if its pointless, ill seal it after the vinyl.

Rich - recommend me a sealant please.?

Other people can recommend too dude...

As its a work van and white I could just go with EGP or Jeffs, standard responses to a pretty standard job...

Yeah spray a bit on the panel, wipe it around with a MF cloth and use another one to buff it to a gloss . Reason why I use it is because it is fine over vinyl and the paintwork at the same time and wont dry white if you do miss a bit.

Not tried Jeffs Sealant over Vinyl do would not like to comment on that one.

Sweet. I do actually quite like sports-vans. That VW van that was out last year was brilliant.

Russ, do you have a blue 182 btw, with a Gas sticker on the front left corner I think?
