Hi, 172 Cup or 182 Cup???

  197 FF Glacier White
Hi guys and girls, new to the forum.

I'm buying (yes, the decision has been made already) either a 172 or 182 Cup for a weekend toy/track toy.

I'm no stranger to fast cars and I'm getting on a bit so insurance etc is no issue despite already insuring several cars including a Fiat Coupe 20VT LE.

I've done my homework on the two cars and just can't decide, on paper the 172 appears to be the better potential track car and is obviously cheaper, the 182 however has a couple of creature comforts I'd like really, and is available in French Blue, without doubt the Clios trump card colour!

Anyway, any pointers would be appreciated, I'm in no rush, I've driven a few etc etc so any impartial opinions on the merits of each model would be great!

Thanks all

Gareth :D

The 172 cup comes in mondial blue, its not just a 182 which comes in blue, depends what you want, do you want purely for a track car or you going to commute in it to? if its purely track car then defo go for a 172 cup (more of a drivers car,) a 182 will be still very good round a track and you get the added luxuries what a cup does not have, i have a 172 cup as an everyday car and to be honest i dont miss any of the creature comforts a 172 or 182 offers, but thats just my opinion

Its a toy. I have other cars for work and pottering about. It will basically be thrown about a track 5-6 times a year and the odd run on a sunny summer sunday somewhere.

I had pretty much decided on the 172 cup if I'm honest, but having seen a 182 CUP in French Blue last night, it got me thinking! Also getting into my work car today after it had been sat in the sun for 9 hours reminded me I'd miss Aircon, although I know you can get post 2003 172 Cups with aircon, I've not come across one yet.

I am considering a couple of 172s at the moment, anything to watch out for when I view, I've been viewing with nothing but my experience of cars in general up to now.

Hello mate, welcome to CS :)
I would definately be bias towards a FF182 but it's like you say, the creature comfort thing, you would be right to go for a 172 cup if it's just for a toy, main concerns to watch out for would be the exhaust falling off and the timing belt being due, whatever you get it will either have been done already or will need doing now so look out for that :)
