Hi pitched noise when turning the steering wheel on a wet / cold morning

Hi All

My 2004 Clio 182 has developed a high pitched noise when turning the steering wheel left or right on a wet / cold morning, it soulds like a fan belt slipping

Otherwise the steering is fine, check the power steering oil and its not losing any

could it be the AUX BELT or TENSIONER on its way out

I've fixed most of the fault i had when i bought the car only 2 weeks ago, but this one is bugging me

When my tensioner failed, turning the steering wheel to a near lock would cause a high pitch noise, as the aux belt was rubbing against the tensioner. Might be worth checking the aux belt for any visible marks.

Had something similar when my power steering pump failed- local specialist could diagnose for you?
