High mileage 172 values

Time is now coming for me to sell my mk1 172, been having a look on Autotrader and there seem to be a few high mileage ones around at the moment including the following -

2000 X - 150k - £2995
2000 X - 100k - £3450
2000 W - 99k - £3495 (this ones Red and looks MINT!)
2001 Y - 89k - £3999

What do people think of these prices?? Im keeping an eye on them to see if they sell, but im particually interested in the 150k one!

Mine is on 130k, and has fsh and is in good condition (not mint, but perfectly reasonable (and probably slightly above average, esp considering the mileage). It will be sold with 12 months Mot, some tax (prob about 5 months) and will be fully serviced before sale. Its standard apart from mk2 172 alloys and mk2 rear lights and will prob have mk2 side strips/badges fitted before sale so is one of the better looking ones for its age. Was thinking of pricing mine at £2795, what do people think?

Thats a not a bad price for the £3.5k one thats the best there.
£3k isn't bad but 144k it need a new cambelt (I'd say it ned ones ASAP change it ever 60k if there no warently and a new engine not to cheap). For an extra £500 you can have another 6 month more modern car and more time till it needs its belts going.
Worse seeing what other bits ie new clucth which may have gone on them they have.

£2800 for a 130,000 miles RENAULT... 172! LMAO get on your bike. I'd not touch your car with Edde's! Its worth a 1k-1.5k MAX if you can even find someone to buy one with that mileage.

I wouldnt really want a car on that mileage, especially not a French one but each to their own.

there are quite a lot of valvers going for over 2k or high 1k's that have high milage, ie over 90k, some even over 130k!

It might be a bit loose but thats the way I like them (we are on about cars here arn't we?)
Anyway second hand box and engine plus new dampers £900 then say £300 fitment at worse.

Then again depends how its treated, the cigarette lighter might be the only thing of any value in a 130k 172.

usual naieve comments from neil.... "know it all springs" to mind

I rekon 2.5k is about its money mate, but stick it up for 2800 as people always want to haggle a little bit.

Being realistic, 130k is a hell of a lot of miles in a Renault never mind a 172.

I wouldn't say 130k is a lot of miles for a Renault, i've had 3 19 16v's all with more miles that that, and a Williams that was coming close to it.

Mileage doesn't really bother me, i've had the 172 for about 8 months now, and all it's needed is a rear shock. So i've had 8 months of 172 ownership, for the price of what, £50? (+tax and ins obviously) but I doubt i'll lose any money from what i paid for it. Where as I could've bought, say for example, a 30k mile example for probably over double the price, which would've suffered more depreciation over that time.

As for the more serious replies, it had a new gearbox and clutch fitted by previous owner at 100k, and had cambelt done at 120k a few months before i bought it, so nothing needed there on it for a while.

As Seb182 says, the valvers still make good money, and i'd say there's a lot of differance between a valver and a 172 for what is little money when you're looking at the high mileage 172's (although personally i can see the 'old skool' attraction with the valvers)

I'd be happy with £2.5k for mine, and im sure someone else would be happy to pay that to, its a cheap entry into 172 ownership at the end of the day

I was looking at a high mileage mk1 172 a few months ago. It had covered around 120k miles and looked in good condition. But at the end of the day the mileage issue did concern me even though it was a pretty good price

3k mate with scope to haggle. At the end of the day I was worried that majorish things would need replaced so didn't take it any further.

I think the price you are asking seems fair
