High Mileage

  Alfa
I'm looking to get a ph2 172 FF soon and due to my budget I'm looking at 2 scenarios:

2002 reg with around 40k miles or
2003 reg with around 65k miles

should the extra mileage cause any concerns? Apart from the cambelt is there anything else to consider around the 70k mark?

I don't think 65k is an issue apart from the point you spotted with the cambelt which will cost a bit to do.

TBH I'd go for the one in the best condition regardless of plate.

just spotted that even with an 02 reg I still need to factor in a cambelt change - 72k miles or 5 years I think.

so they take the mileage pretty well?

i managed to pick up a 52 plate 172 ff ,1 owner,30 000 miles, full renault service history with loads of receipts etc. better condition than an 03 i looked at. got it for just over £5k.

do some searching and take your time. took me 2 months to find the RIGHT one.

Both will need cambelts doing this year as the 2002 one is five years old this year and the 2003 has nearly done 72k so you might as well get it changed now.

As said above id go for the one in best condition and as long as they have been serviced at the correct intervals you shouldnt have a problem

S**t..that reminds me, I've got to get the cambelt done on my 02 reg this October as it's coming up to 5 years old.

Still only got 18000 on the clock though....need to get some more on it to loosen it up

if the 2002 plate model is an 02 rather than a 52, you dont get ESP,which is why i chose the 02. ABS and aircon but not ESP... best of both worlds
