And we have working glow plugs 😁😁😁😁

Turns it was injectors @leeds2592

I kid

Will do a write up later

Been on it all day at work today again with director 😂
I have not commented as I am a spacker. But I'm genuinely interested in what the solution is.
Even though I will not understand it.
It's like watching a rando episode of EastEnders or sommat, but holding a piss until it ends.

We're still not actually decided what it was being totally honest... But they work now.

It looks like the glow plug modules were at fault all along, despite fitting 3!

It looks like the first one (genuine) has failed, so I naturally bought a new one but it was an ebay jobby (aftermarket) and basically it looks like...

The signal wire goes through the glow plug module and meets the diagnostic wire and interacts that way where the diagnostic wire acts to pull the signal wire up to the ECU and switches the glow plugs on. So one needs the other basically.

BUT... It looks like the aftermarket modules (tried 2 new ones) don't have this connection which I just can't get my head around. So my director was saying maybe the ecu or wiring is slightly at fault (in terms of resistance) and needs a really specific pull up signal but it's not getting it with the aftermarket component and needs to be OEM.

So in the end we have linked the diagnostic cable directly to the signal wire which is technically bypassing the glow plug module check to see if it's failed. It still sends the signal when it needs them and for the first time I have seen the glow plugs properly working as I took one out and connected an earth lead to its casing and saw it glow red hot in about 2 seconds.

Properly strange. We are going to get my original glow plug module working on the bench to see how it differs to the aftermarket parts and how that has originally failed.

It's been baffling our heads all day 😂 when I started it after it ran a lot nicer initially too - previously it would run a bit lumpy for the first 5 seconds but this was spot on instantly.

Yeah to be fair that’s school boy. Anything ignition related just go OEM. Can always tell when they turn up from the local motor factors in a box from 2004 with loads of oily finger prints on it and witness marks where it’s been fitted before. “It matches our part number” well I bet it f**king does. But I asked you for a Genuine one. You f**king helmet.

Sorry.

I genuinely (see what I did there) didn't think it would make that much of a difference being honest seeing how simple they are inside.

I think they're just wired differently as @Speedo Gonzales mentioned!

Matched my car reg to the part number allocated so thought it would be correcto! f**king chinese parts probably soldered together with WongTongs and hopes and a dream

Tempted to buy new genuine, also very not tempted to too.
