Horrible noise/growling from exhaust/cat!

  Racing Blue 182
It happens on the overrun and when putting my foot on the clutch to change gear. It's more of a noise that sounds like its coming from where the cat is. It's not like a rattle more like a growl (sounds weird I know!) I got told it was the cat, changed that (old one was fucked too!) then thought it was the slightly rusty clamps, so I changed them and the gaskets. Just got it back and it's still doing it!!

It's not like when hot/cold, it's random and happens a lot of the time and its really annoying and I'm scared something's gonna break!!!

Any advice would be great guys as I want this sorted ASAP and I don't really know what it could be? Anyone had any experience of something like this?

Thanks guys!!!

Clutch release bearing maybe? I have a similar noise when putting the clutch down. Hard to describe the noise. A growl/rattle.

Thanks. Ill speak to my mechanic and see what he thinks.

Same Ghm. I've tried everything I can think off. It sounds like its coming from the cat but its brand new and fitted perfectly so I have no clue what it is!! It's annoying and I'm scared its gonna go pop.

Could it be my exhaust or manifold or something (I hope not!)?

what is the condition of the backbox and its mounts, and the back to centre (sh**e) join?
Thanks for your reply. I have spoken to my mechanic, he has said that all of the above are fine. However it could be the back box!? Is this possible even though it is coming from around the cat area?

Thanks
