You shouldnt need it mate. They should know what engine you have from the model and year of your car?!?!

thats what i thought, u dont need the engine number for example if you were ordering parts yourself... ?

but do you know where it is anyway schweps so i can take a look to shut them up? - (trying to get a decent quote is just doing my head in now)

Hi mate not 100% sure but on 172 its stamped on the front of the block on the right hand side near the sump. It might be hard to see as they stamp it with dots to make the letters and numbers

Shouldn't this is be in the car's documentation? If you have the owners manual it tell where to look at, easier and cleaner looking at the papers

well had a look in the manual and it says its just under the top half of the engine on front of the sump, scrubed away with a wirebrush but still couldnt find anything

had a look on my V5 document said there what my engine number is, but is different to how they told me it shoudl start

they said it should start k4j sominthing (also said this on eurocarparts)

but on v5 starts d04**** also is not aslong as the one on the website

its probably k4j 710, it'll say on your oval plate in the door shut. Thats the engine code not the engine number
