How do i get 200bhp from my 172?

  Mountune Tractor
Right people! Who can come up with the best way of producing 200hp from a clio 172? Exhaust, induction kit and uprated ecu? My mates own 200sx's and I want to give them some sort of competition! Oh and i dont want to spend 6k on a turbo coversion either! lol!

Stick a 50 shot of gas on that lot with a progressive controller and you will see mid 13 qtr mile runs with a 0 - 60 time of 5 - 5.5 secs. Dont go silly with the jets just stick to a 50bhp one.

thanks dr rollo and tommyboy!
The answer at the end of the day is spend a few hundred quid on sensible mods and settle for 180 brake. If this doesnt satisfy your needs then go and buy something with a turbo! lol.

Thanks Dubai. Was speaking to Nick on phone today about more tuning.

How did your rolling road session go?

before mine was on ITB's it had inlet match, cams and remap from GDI and made just shy of 200bhp. well worth the money for the returns imo. Other people will tell you how and where to go, there are a few companies offering these services, GDI however have been the ones regularly hitting these figures and produce the majority of the quick cars in the club.

them gdi packages do they take the 172 or 182 to 200bhp? as id imagine a little more works needed for the 172.

once you change the cat/exhaust in a 172 your there. There is no differnece anyway. 4-6bhp after work and that means nothing.

call 01480860001 and speak to Andy at GDi..tell him you spoke to me and see what he says!!!!!!!!

Between 182bhp and 200bhp you won't notice much in terms of pulling away! Trust me!

Competition?

I've had a 218bhp clio 172 on throttle bodies, cams, de-cat, omex etc etc and i've also owned a Nissan 200sx. The 200sx would obliterate the clio.

I personally don't think you'll get close to your 200sx friends with 200bhp. Even with light mods on a 200sx they are producing around 260bhp and they don't excatly weight a great deal compared to some jap cars.

If you want to go quick in a straight line, sell your 172 and buy a 200sx. If you want to pan them in the corners then forget about 200bhp, spend money on suspension, brakes and driving tutition. They will never catch you.

ok... that's it then ...

i hear a lot of people saying that their best mods have been suspension/brakes instead of trying to go for more HP.

Go with cams and one of our custom remaps and you won't be far off 200 if not actually at 200

Are there loads of different types of engines for the turbo's, as I had a couple of races with some around near me when I had the Williams, one looked stock, the other had some kipper jap exhaust on it and I left them both comfortably, they were also deffo turbo charged too. I'd fancy my chances against a 260bhp one in your old beasty Chris, especially at the moment as it's absolutely flying thanks to Andy's wizardry!

Oh, have a little prob actually too, the radio code doesn't work for some reason and i'm using the one in the service manual... was it ever changed or do you happen to know what it is? I'm using the joystick to enter it and holding the bottom button to confirm, I'm assuming this is the right way of doing it? lol

 That is what this forum is all about, legendary quotes like that!
Cheers mucker, I wont race them in a straight line, I knew I would lose anyway, I will take them out onto the twisties and kick there ass instead!
I am safe in the knowlegde that a standard 172 gets to 60 quicker than a standard 200sx so I will just use that excuse when they beat me off the lights! lol
