How do you know if the 1*2 xenon headlamp levelling works?

I have had my 182 since February and i still don't know if the levelling is working :S I've never seen them move up or down, and without a levelling switch on the dash panel you can't manually do it,

I know some cars with factory xenons, when they are switched on they go 'down, then up, then level'

Are the 1*2's supposed to do the above or not?

The industry standard test is to point your car at a fence, observe where the light falls, sit a fat mate in the boot, see if it moves.

My lights are crap, seem to point down all the time, can hardly see anything when it's dark without main beams on!

My drivers side on moves up and down all the time :( don't know what's wrong with it. It's not normal!

Mine are the same, absolute crap!

You can adjust this on the lights themselves. Mine were crap to start with but are great now they've been adjusted.

There are 2 white Allen key holes at the back of the light, give these a few turns anticlockwise to bring the light path up but be careful you don't over do it.

Best to do it in the dark with the lights on then you can see the beam move as you turn. Doesn't need many turns though!

Of the top of my head, I'm pretty sure there only self level each time the ignition is turned on.

I tested it once, as I fitted the auto levelling to my girlfriends cup along with the automatic lights/wipers climate control etc, the computer that levels the headlamps is within the sensor on the rear axle.

Oh and as above, adjust the headlamps manually using a hex bit/allen key on the white adjusters on the back of the headlamps to the correct level, all the automatic levelling does is tilt them downwards slightly when the rear ride height is lowered to prevent the lamps dazzling other road users

Sounds like the reflectors have come off their hinges inside the lens, you can just about squeeze them back on sometimes if you're careful

Adjusted mine - Had two new lights in an insurance claim and they where wound all the way down, hence why I couldn't see for toffee!

Now I can seee thank you guys!!!

get them checked and setup at an mot station as there is a set hight and angle needed. if you adjust it urself you could put the aim out and cause it to fail the next mot or blind people coming towards you.

only costs £16 depending who does it.
