How do you know when your tappets are fooked and is it urgent to replace them?

i think my tappets may be gone/worn as the engine sounds tappy on idle, anyway is it important to do them soon? also how hard are they 2 replace? or how many hours should it take a garage?

Not sure how hard it is to replace but a lot of clios are like that. Is it just tappy from cold or is it like that when warmed up as well?

A new set is £120 or so.

Get some decent oil, Silkolene 0W-40 etc

its like it when warm aswell

or a screwdriver. Stick plastic part to ear and with metal bit, probe around. poor mans method.

Do a sound clip or video Pat, post it up and we'll tell you if there noisy. Should here my mate Kierans tappets, there noisy!!!!
