I took my car in at 8am this morning for a cam and aux belt change, i just called a minute ago (5pm) to find out if it was done and was told they need it until tomorrow. How many hours, if done correctly, should it take?
yeah, but you dont know what time they started it, the book time is 5 hours, but that is a target time, not an average or guaranteed time. I would rather it took a bit longer and they made sure the timing was 100% correct!
I did my first one a couple weeks ago, I took my time and in total (including tea breaks and lunch and dinner etc) it took me about 11 hours, but that was start to finish and I really took my time to avoid making any mistakes.
their apprentice has probly timed it up wrong for you and bent your valves, now they are panicing so keeping it over night and tell you the bad news in the morning.
Well having never done one before and on my drive it took me from 10am to 5pm not rushing and stopping for lunch. So i'd expect a half decent garage to easily be able to do it in that time with a ramp.
