How much engine coolant?

Tried searching but only come up with guides and that it will cost £40.lol.

Exactly what quantity of coolant would i need please?

you want about 3/4 litres of coolant, the rest water.

Mine is water and oil cooled. The pipe split next to the turbo yesterday so looking to replace the coolant while i repair it.

i changed mine on thursday, got 5 litres of renault spec d coolant for 24quid (cheaper than that if you go gsf but there isnt one near me )

ive used it all up and just need to top a bit up 2day with some water as the levels has dropped and settled now

remember that if the engine is cool. when you fill it up it will take more after the engine is warmed up as the thermostat will open and fill the rad.

Rite ive just tried to drain the coolent on mine...

Ran some flush through the system, then disconnected the bottom rad hose (passenger side underneath the air box).

But its only seem to of drained 2L of coolant i.e ive put 2L of new stuff in and its completly full after taking it for a run and letting it tick over..

Guessing i havent done it correctly?

Gray sure you've taken the bottom hose off? As in one of the 2 at the bottom of the rad?

Blow down the cap see what happens.

Yes i looked for the lowest hose on the car..

right at the bottom of the radiator i only disconnected 1 hose?

blew down the cap and nothing else seemed to come out?

Yeh i thought that... but surely i would of got more than 2L of coolant out of the system?

Tell me more... i looked for the bleed screw but couldnt see it anywhere!? :S

and yes i had the cap off the coolent tank

if you look at the side of the engine block you will see 3 screws going in from the side the top one is the bleed screw, this will release a load more coolant, you use it to bleed the air out of the system when topping up with new stuff

the screw is a 10mm bolt

if you look at the piccy it goes into the engine block from right to left, you can just see it in the pic between the hillpower elbow and the blue samco coolant hose next to it, just above the edge of the maxogen in the pic
