Surely you don't account the cost of how much fuel you put into your car as part of how much have you spent on your Clio !?

You'll like this.....

The race car has cost us (between 3 of us mind), including purchasing the car in the first place and all the race prep we have done to it, a little over 6 grand. Which I think is pretty damn decent.

My road car, has cost me very little, because the only things I have really done to it have involved stealing parts off the race car that we have replaced with upgraded items. This includes all springs and dampers, brake discs and pads and even wheels! The only thing I have bought for the road car has been a new driveshaft (£30). So, plus the purchase price of £1300..... £1330. Cheap as anything!

It's very easy to spend lots of money on a car no doubt, but I've found that if you just merely keep a record of what you've done, it's a lot harder to find yourself getting carried away and buying ridiculous things.

Insurance and fuel is another matter, they're pretty much set costs really, purely dependant on your situation. I wouldn't include those costs in this kind of thing.

An eye watering amount, but track day cars don't build themselves and I have a nasty habit of wanting the best of everything....

At the moment its sitting around 7k, including the initial cost of the car but not the cost of petrol / consumables. Still got the interior (buckets, full cage, steering wheel) and the ITB's to go, so will end up around 13kish I think. Ho hum.

I've spent thousands on mine and it isn't even on the road, lots of things were stupid mistakes ( bonnet flipped up damaging bonnet roof wipers and windscreen last year :/ )
But I don't bother to count it, people spend thousands on TV's or holidays, since last september I've spent almost every night working on her as its my hobby... Whats your price for happiness?
